When Racing Was The "Best"

The Rules

We are initiating a yearly membership dues of $30.00 per car.

As Illinois Vintage Racing grows and expands every effort is being made to revise the rules to stabilize car owner costs and ensure that everyone is competitive.  The 2008 rules are designed to protect owners from getting too eager to outspend other competitors and to maintain overall competition.  The club has an impressive group of cars with several new entries being built for the 2008 season.  The quality and professionalism of all of our club cars is absolutely amazing.  The club needs to maintain rigid and tough standards so IVR can attract additional club members who have been driven out of racing because of the high cost of tires, exotic chassis and expensive engines.  If club members hunt diligently enough, vintage cars can be located that are just waiting for restoration.

If club organizers strive to keep all cars on a level playing field, participants will have a great time and generate memories to share with fellow club members, fans and family.  The rules provide owners who want to purchase vintage cars or who already have older cars an equal chance to win a race and continue to be competitive.

2008  RULES

As we grow and expand we must revise our rules to keep car owner costs down and ensure that everyone is competitive.  We need to protect ourselves from getting too eager to outspend the next guy and become exactly what we set out not to be.   We have an impressive group of cars with several new ones being built for our 2008 Season.  The quality and professionalism of all of our cars is absolutely amazing. We need to stick to rigid and tough standards so we can attract additional club members who have been driven out of racing because of the high cost of tires, exotic chassis and expensive engines.  If we hunt diligently enough, we can find plenty of cars sitting out there just waiting for us to restore them.

If we strive to keep everyone on a level playing field, we will all have a great time and make lots of memories to share with our club members, fans and family.  Let’s give the owners who want to purchase old cars and who already have old cars an equal chance to win a race.

CHASSIS

If you are building a new car from scratch, you should use a stock stub.  No new exotic chassis with tube stubs, no rack & pinion steering or coil overs on front suspension will be allowed. If you have or find an old chassis from the 70’s or 80’s with a tube front clip or non-specified set-up, give us a call and our tech director will come out and inspect it.  With his approval, you may run the old chassis and/or set-up.  Should you run an old chassis with a tube clip or non-specified set-up and win 2 features in a season or at any time continuously out-run the field you will have to change over to a stock stub and/or specified set-up.  Rear suspension – No Bird Cages, no rear steer of any type.  To be blunt, this will keep a Late Model driver from hanging an old body on his current car which would enable him to out run all of our cars.

GENERAL EVENT INFORMATION

The winner of any heat race, trophy dash or feature at one event will automatically start in the rear of the field at the next event.  This will give everyone an equal chance of carrying the checkered flag and to share in the enjoyment of a successful racing season.
