The Harold Grantland Tribute Car

Illinois Vintage Racing Members (former 1969 Kankakee Champion) Larry Robb, and (3 Time Go Kart Champion) Keith Grantland spent the last 1½ years building an exact replica of Keith’s Dads 71 Ford Torino Late model. His Dad was a top Car owner at SantaFe Speedway, Illinois in the 60’s & 70’s. His car was driven by Grundy Co Speedway Hall Of Famer The Late Clem Lewandowski. Larry calls the tribute car
The Show & Shine Special.

The project started moving in high gear in Oct 2006 when former Driver/owner Richie Coolant donated a 1980 Boyce Trackburner Chassis. The Chassis was brand new but had never been completed to race. It had been in Richie’s back yard for 25 yrs. In 2008 the car made its debut at our season opener May 10 at Sycamore Speedway Il and promptly won Best appearing Vintage car. Throughout 2008 Larry & Keith have had fun sharing the driving duties on our Traveling Series. The Clem Lewandowski Family was reunited with the car mid year at Sycamore Speedway. It was an emotional reunion of stories, memories and pictures.

Larry Robb started his driving career at SantaFe Speedway in the late 60’s driving a 54 Ford. In 1969 he and his wife Judy made history at the Kankakee Fairgrounds by winning the Sportsman & Powder Puff Championship in the same year. A record which still stands today! He recently purchased another Chassis to create another Tribute car. The theme will be announced at a later date. This one will be assembled to get it on and Swap Sheetmetal to carry the Checkered Flag!!
