“Fast” Freddy Pitner

Freddy started his racing career at Raceway Pk. In the early 70’s.He drove a 67 Chevelle #3 in the 6 cylinder division. His favorite driver was Bob Pronger. In the 80’s he quit driving and became a pit crew member of longtime Family friend Frank Slabenak They used Freds Chevy hauler to travel to asphalt & Dirt Tracks around the Midwest. In 2004 Fred retired from Chicagos CTA and moved to Seymore, Tennessee. In 2007 he purchased the orginal car that Jerry Kemperman drove in his last race of his career. Frank Slabenak & Will “Jive” Jarvis prepared the car to look exactly like Bob Prongers Raceway Pk. Chevelle.
The car is maintained by his son John in Cedar Lake Ind. Ralph Malec handles all the springs & shock set ups. Freddy makes the long trip with his Helmet from Tennessee to race at our events. If you are ever at one of our Vintage events and you see the Pronger car Charging down the Straightaway , Look through the Fence. Everytime Freddy buckles up for a race he drives the car with a big smile on his face that’s wider than the hood. He’s having fun re-living his Raceway Pk. Days.
