Bill Knippenberg Sr.



Bills family has been involved in racing for decades. His Dad Wally was a veteran car owner in the 50’s. He owned driver Bryant Tuckers Championship Buick at Mance Pk. Speedway. Bills driving career started in 1972 at SantaFe Speedway. He was in the pit area and he traded his Motor Cycle for Ben Grahams 57 Chevy. He won his very 1st heat race the same night. Through the years Bill has won championships at Fairbury, Princeton, and SantaFe Speedways. He is 1 of only 3 drivers in the history of SantaFe who have won a Sportsman Championship {19features} & Late Model Championship. In the last several years Bill has taken great pride in supporting his 2 sons driving careers { Billy & Tommy}.

They have won numerous awards & Championships. Bill currently owns & operates Bill’s Speed Shop.He has built many Vintage cars for our members , and is considered to be the Hub for parts and Quick repairs. The last 2 years he has supplied beautiful Short Track cars for The World Of Wheels Show to benefit the Ronald Macdonald Childrens Hospital Auction. In 2007 after 10 years of retirement ,he won the very 1st race he entered at Sycamore Speedway. He drove the orginal Joe Shear asphalt car to Sycamore’s very 1st Vintage Trophy Dash at the Speedway.
