#3 Marland Riblet

When our Club was in the development stage, Rusty Allen who is the promoter at Fairbury Speedway, contacted me and told me about a former racer who was interested in meeting me. In a barn he found and then restored his original Modified. He wanted to join our club not to race but to display his Modified and to pace the track during the National Anthem. He turned out to be Marland Riblet who raced in the 50’s & 60’s and won numerous races. His Modified is unique because it has a Buick engine and it has multiple carburetors. He became our first official club member and met me at every race track that first year to display his Modified when we had no cars to race. He never let our Club down, he brought albums of pictures to look at and enjoy and spoke to every fan that stopped at our booth. His favorite expression is “You Betcha”.
